Dear Members,
As proposed at time of taking office, we the Executive Committee members for the year 2011-12 hope to lay lot of emphasis and focus energies on the development of our Generation next during the course of the year.
Towards this end, we plan to stress on developmental activities like Public Speaking, quizzing, vocabulary enhancement, etc, to name a few. As a first step, we are in the process of initiating public speaking to our children. Discussions are already on with some senior toastmasters to assist us. Toastmasters are members of Toastmasters clubs which are affiliated to the Toastmasters International an internationally acclaimed worldwide organization in the art of communication and leadership development since 1924. Toastmasters International have over 12500 branches world over. In Kuwait itself, there are a few Toastmaster clubs. The youth wing of Toastmasters is called Gavel Club. The Toastmasters will be assigned as mentors of these Gavel Clubs.
They have informed that there should be a minimum of 25 children (above 11 years of age) in order to register as a club. Once registered, Toastmasters will provide the training material. Registration cost for the club will be around $100 + Misc. Expenses (approx.: KD 35 for 25 children). Registration process will normally take 2 to 3 months’ time. The club will function under the overall supervision of KEA Executive Committee, albeit, as a well-structured body as required/outlined by Toastmasters. Other details in respect of venues, charges for venues, frequency of classes etc. will be informed in due course.
If your child is in the age group 11 years to 18 years and you are interested to enroll your child, do contact the Committee members, by 20th June 2011 to expedite the formation of the club.
