Kuwait India holds Seminar for KEA on building Wea
Kuwait India International Exchange Company hosted a seminar on “Building Personal Wealth: Financial Planning and Strategy” at Caesars Dakshin, on Saturday, Oct 4, for engineer members of Keralite Engineers Association (KEA). The session was conducted by Mr. R.Kuppanna, General Manager, Kuwait India International Exchange Company. Mr. G.Santhosh Kumar, President (KEA), welcomed the gathering and made some preliminary remarks. Mr.Daniel Mathew, Vice-President, introduced Mr. R.Kuppanna, the speaker of the day to the gathering. Mr. Aju Paul, General Secretary, co-ordinated the deliberations.
Touching on the aspects of the prevailing economic and financial turmoil in the world markets, fragility of the markets, the fear and the loss of confidence among the investing community, Mr. Kuppanna began by raising a question whether it was appropriate to look at investments at all. While answering in the affirmative, a case was made for one to engage in financial planning depending on their age, their station in life and their short and long term goals.
He spoke of the needs and concerns of the investors, various investment options available – bank deposits, company deposits, debentures, mutual funds, stocks, ETFs; the risk-return trade-off; and the appropriate behavioural framework for undertaking investment activity. The final message that was communicated was that investing was simple, yet a long term, systematic and a disciplined process. Answering several queries, Mr. Kuppanna drew attention, among others, to the importance of having a diversified portfolio with gold and gold-related investments forming an integral part.
The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Mr.Manoj Naliath, joint secretary of KEA
